On 3th February 23, the Mayor of Burera district Mrs Uwanyirigira Marie Chantal paid a visit to Réseau des Femmes Oeuvrant pour le Development Rural (Réseau des Femmes) in order to recognize the efforts of the organization to improve women’s empowerment and Family wellbeing in Burera district.
According to the Mayor, Réseau des Femmes has done a lot to Improve protection from gender-based violence, enhanced qualitative participation of women in decision-making and conflict resolution in Burera.
The Mayor of Burera appreciated so much this partnership with Réseau des Femmes to promote Family wellbeing. She noticed that Burera district is honored to continue working with Réseau des Femmes to continue to build a Family wellbeing free of conflict and GBV.
On her side, the Legal Representative of Réseau des Femmes, Mrs Uwimana Xaverine, indicated that since 2018, Réseau des Femmes supported by Kvinna Till Kvinna, planned and implemented successfully the project “Uri Nyampinga or You are a woman of value” which targeted teen mothers and vulnerables teen girls. The major aim of the project is to reduce Teenage pregnancy and Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the mentioned district; She said.
Mrs Uwimana mentioned another project called GROW implemented by Réseau des Femmes with the purpose on reducing and redistributing unpaid care works to help to uncover works to shift gender norms around the burden of unpaid care in Burera district.
